A doodle a day – Day Twenty Two
Day Twenty Two
Geometric shapes and patterns
Today’s doodle came about a little differently. Usually I sketch my doodle first and if I have enough time I clean it up and add a little colour using Illustrator. As I already had Illustrator open I skipped the sketching stage and started playing around directly in it. I created a few regular shapes, some circles, rectangles and triangles those sorts of things and started to move them around to see what sort of patterns and designs I could make from them. I cut some shapes out from others and started to layer some on top of others too.
Originally today’s doodle was made up of three separate designs which I merged together to form what you see above. I added some pale colours in there and added a little drop shadow to enhance the fact that the designs are almost floating on top of each other.
In all a very simple but effective doodle which I could have gone a lot further with. In the future I might see what I can do with this sort of design to fill in a character or doodle to form a more detailed abstract design.
Thanks for taking the time to read today’s doodle. If you have any thoughts or questions then please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below.
